Rayees Ahmad, a civilian of Jammu and Kashmir, who was injured in firing by the Indian army in Shopian on January 27, succumbed to his injuries at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Wednesday.
With this, the death toll in the firing has risen to three.
Earlier on January 27, two civilians were killed and several others were injured in a firing by an Indian army patrol party. The army said that they were retaliating to stones pelted at them by protesting civilians in Shopian’s Ganowpora village.
Following the incident, Jammu and Kashmir police have launched an FIR against the Indian army.
