The Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik appointed Kewal Kumar Sharma, a former bureaucrat, as his fourth advisor.
K K Sharma is a 1983-batch IAS officer of AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre. He had worked earlier as the secretary of higher education in the Union ministry of human resources development in February this year.
The appointment of 4th Advisor to Governor from outside the State is aimed at giving representation to Jammu province in the Governor’s team. Besides that, it also indicates that the state is in for a long spell of Governor’s rule. Interestingly, the Governor is constitutionally bound to dissolve state assembly by or before December 17 this year, if a new government is not put in place before that time.
