Uttar Pradesh:

UP police lathi charged and injured many protesting BTC and TET qualified candidates on Friday. BTC is a two-year teacher training programme conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board and TET is the teacher eligibility test conducted by the centre. The protesters were demanding that the government make appointments to vacant 27000 assistant teacher positions immediately.

According to Instantkhabar, protests were held outside the state legislative assembly. It was the second consecutive day of the protests and the police in cleared the protesters from the road to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Though the protesters complied to this, the police then demanded the protesters to call off the protest. However, the protesters were not ready to disperse until they could speak to top government officials and raise their demand. Since they were made to wait for a long time, the agitated protesters started spreading out on the road. This was when the police began lathi-charging the protesters.

Candidates had said earlier that the government had conducted the written examination for 68,500 vacant positions but only 41,556 posts has were filled. They also said that there were allegations of irregularities even in those appointments and the court has ordered CBI investigation into it. The allegations if found to be true by CBI would result in the cancellation of the recruitment process.
