The chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani, alleged that New Delhi was using force to crush the voice of the people in the state, particularly in the Kashmir valley. He also said that the armed forces could not stop them from pursuing their cause of right to self-determination.
Geelani said that New Delhi is suffering from the arrogance of power and has tried its best to muzzle the cry for freedom that erupted in 1947. “No force on earth can deter us from achieving our cherished the goal of right to self-determination,” he said. Geelani also said that the brutality, human rights violation, inhuman security laws and the presence of 7 lakh Indian troops had converted the paradise on earth into a living hell.
Geelani also appealed to the mourners to stay away polls. “We believe that any election which Delhi tries to conduct is nothing but an armed drill to threaten the common people thereby strengthening its control on our land,” Geelani said.
