Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti demands action against bride’s virginity test

Seeking intervention of the Maharashtra government in stopping the practice of forced virginity test on newly married women of the Kanjarbhat community, the members of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti (MANS) have sent an email to the minister of state for home affairs Rajith Patil. They also submitted a letter to the minister of social justice, Rajkumar Badole in this matter.

“Activist from the Kanjarbhat community, Krushna Indrekar, In his letter reminded the minister of his own assurance. The minister, Rajith Patil had said in a reply to Shiv Sena’s Neelam Gorhe, in the state assembly on 2019 February 28 that essential protection would be provided to those who come forward with complaints against ‘virginity tests'” reported The Indian Express.
