Israel fires missiles towards Damascus

Israel war planes have fired missiles towards the Syrian capital city of Damascus. Most of the missiles were shot down by Syrian air defence according to Syrian state media reports. Israel is attacking Syria to counter Iranian influence in the country. Iran supports Bashar Al Assad in the war that erupted in 2011. According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor, the attacks were at areas hosting military positions of Iranian force and Lebanese Hezbollah movement near the Damascus airport. The last attacks by Israel on Lebanon was on December 25, 2018. A senior Israeli official confirmed more than 200 attacks against Iranian targets in Syria.
