Udayanidhi Stalin, son of MK Stalin, on Tuesday(26th March), said that Tamil Nadu is witnessing an “anti-Modi wave.” instead, he claimed the state is going through a “Pro-Stalin” wave. He was addressing the campaign seeking votes for DMK’s Pollachi candidate Shanmugasundaram.
Udayanidhi who is an active participant in DMK’s election campaign also said that Modi has cheated people, hence shall be sent home. He also brought up the issue of demonitisation, and asked how successful was the government in bringing back black money.
“The people will teach Modi a good lesson on April 18. Five years ago, BJP announced a slew of initiatives for the people. Did Modi implement them”, he asked. He also took the opportunity to criticise O. Paneerselvam for forming ties with BJP in the state.
“Palaniswami has been saying that he has done many things for the welfare of people. But what he has done is that he has been holding the chief minister’s post for the last two years”, he said.
Udhayanidhi also brought into discussion the issues of unemployment, GST, NEET, and the recent natural calamities that the state had faced and urged the people to vote BJP out of power. He also specifically discussed the issue of the recent sexual harassment case in Pollachi and claimed that women are unsafe under the AIADMK government. He promised the culprits would be given due punishment if DMK comes to power.
In Coimbatore, while addressing CPM candidate P. Natarajan’s campaign, Udhayanidhi said that he is happy to campaign for the communist party, whose ideology falls close to his grandfather, Karunanidhi. He also promised the people that DMK would initiate a metro rail project in the city.
The DMK, which is currently leading the opposition Secular Progressive Alliance, is contesting 20 seats in the state, allotting the remaining 19 to its allies, including Congress.
The state goes to the polls in a single phase on April 18.
