A book that had written about the much discussed Rafale scam, Naatai Ulukkum Rafale Paera Oozhal (Rafale: The scam that Shook the Nation) sold 8000 copies overnight. The book priced at 15 rupees, was authored by Chennai based engineer S Vijayan. The book urges people to defeat AIADMK-BJP alliance in Tamil Nadu. The book includes investigative reports written by veteran journalist N.Ram.

Speaking to PTI, Bharathi Puthagalayam publisher K Nagarajan said that overnight they managed to sell 8000 copies in 30 outlets across the state and that they have received orders for 10,000 more copies.

Earlier, just before its launch over a 100 copies of the book was confiscated from Bharathi Puthakalayam for a brief time by a flying squad that included police officers. However, the Election Commission clarified that they did not authorise any action regarding the book. The publishing house reportedly has links with CPM.

“The moment we came to know about it and after ascertaining the details, the concerned flying squad has been changed. All officials involved in the action have been removed. We are awaiting a full report on how it happened from the CEO,” Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa said.

Speaking to NDTV, the editor of Bharathi Puthakalayam P.K Rajan said, “We have published several books around elections over the years. Recently we had published books on Sterlite issue, Hydrocarbon and Koodankulam nuclear issues. The information the book has is already in the public domain, largely revealed by The Hindu.”

Recently, Congress had also released a book on Narendra Modi, titled, “BJP’s Shishupal: The 100 Mistakes of Modi.” The book also mentions Rafael deal as the first mistake of Modi.

“On one hand, Hindustan Aeronautics has earned its name across the globe for making aircraft, on the other, Reliance has zero experience in the production of the defence sector,” the chapter on Rafale read.
