Solar scam prime accused, Saritha S. Nair will be independently contesting from Wayanad constituency against Congress president Rahul Gandhi. She has announced that she is entering the electoral fray to “expose the real faces of some of the candidates fielded and also the hollowness of the party’s campaign about women safety.” This is in addition to Ernakulam where she will be taking on UDF candidate Hibi Eden as declared earlier.
According to the reports, her decision to contest is to be a message against the Congress’ inaction on her sexual harassment complaint towards the party leaders. Earlier, she had accused several renowned and senior most Congress leaders. Hibi Eden is one among the accused in the molestation case by Saritha.
She told media that she had sent many letters to Rahul Gandhi complaining against 12 of the Congress workers. But Rahul Gandhi refused to take action. She questioned, “How can a person, who is trying to become the Prime Minister, behave this way to a woman ?” Saritha also said that she is not contesting the election to become an MP, but is contesting to shame those, who abused and levelled criminal charges against her.
“I have always been labelled as a cheater. But how are these leaders, who have committed crimes against women, which are far serious than financial crimes, allowed to contest elections?” she added.
Saritha S. Nair is the prime accused in the multi-crore solar scam that made huge political noise around the state. She had allegedly floated a bogus company back in 2011 promising imported solar panels and stakes and reportedly cheated many people. At the same time, she has also accused about 12 high-profile Congress leaders, including former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy, Karnataka Congress in charge, and Rahul Gandhi’s close aide K.C. Venugopal and others. But Congress has rejected the charges calling “politically motivated and baseless”.
