Congress launched its campaign slogan along with a song, just five days before the first phase of Lok Sabha polls. The official campaign slogan is ‘Ab hoga nyay’ (Now there will be justice). The slogan focuses on the Minimum Income Guarantee Scheme, NYAY promised by Congress and at the same time suggests that the Modi regime had been one of anyaay (injustice).
Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma said, “People talk on the non-performance, non-deliverance of the BJP government for the last five years. Betrayal, false promises and justice have been denied to the poor. There has been an assault on the foundational values of the Constitution”
Percept Edge is the main agency behind Congress campaigns, Sharma informed the press. The digital campaign for the party will be mainly handled by Silver Push while creative content will be designed by Niksun and Design Boxed.
NYAY (Nyuntham Aay Yojana), is one of the key promises of Congress for the elections. Announcing the scheme Rahul Gandhi had said, “20 per cent of the poorest families will be given income support of Rs 72,000 every year. All modalities have been worked out and this is possible within our budget. We have studied the fiscal implications of the scheme.”
Announcing the slogan, Congress tweeted, “Poverty will be struck, we will fulfil the dream. In Congress rule, the poor will be empowered. #AbHogaNYAY.”
“Our campaign doesn’t focus on income guarantee alone. It is about ensuring nyay to farmers, Nyay to youth, Nyay to entrepreneurs,” said Mr Sharma.
The theme song is written by Javed Akhtar and filmed by Nikkhil Advani.
