Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday, triggering another controversy called Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah a ‘murder accused’ and referred his son Jay Shah as a “magician who converts Rs 50,000 into Rs 80 crore in three years”. In return, BJP cited the court’s judgment that the case against Shah was “politically motivated” and questioned Gandhi’s knowledge of legal matters.
While addressing an election rally at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi said attacking the BJP president, “Murder accused BJP chief Amit Shah. Wow, what a glory… Have you heard Jay Shah’s name? He is a magician, he made Rs 50,000 into Rs 80 crore in 3 months”.
Meanwhile, Amit Shah said in return, “Let me tell you the gist of the order. I was slapped with a fake case and the court has already passed its order that it was a politically motivated allegation and was without any evidence. I don’t want to make any comment on the legal knowledge of Rahul Gandhi.”
Rahul Gandhi also pointed out the corruption and the Rafale case, challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to debate with him anywhere. Claiming that the PM is afraid of he will be exposed, Gandhi said if he is voted to power next, he will order an inquiry into the Rafale deal and claimed that “only two names will come out: Narendra Modi and Anil Ambani”.
In 2014, a special court had discharged Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh and Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter killing cases, holding there existed no case against him and that he had been implicated for political reasons.
However, Rahul’s comments come at a day when the Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a contempt notice to Congress president after he wrongly attributed his remarks on Rafale verdict to the apex court. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 30.
