After casting her vote, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, on Monday, accused the Indian National Congress saying that India is truly independent today; free from the rule of ‘Italian’ government. Kangana, known for her pro-BJP stance, also attacked the previous Congress governments of keeping the country poor and urged the people to vote for India.
When reported asked her about the importance of voting, Kangana replied, “It’s a very important day. This day comes once in five years, so please make use of this. I feel India is gaining its independence in the real sense of the term today. Because before this, we were servants of Mughal, British and Italian governments. So please exercise your right and vote.” She used the word ‘Italian’ in reference to Sonia Gandhi, who has her roots in Italy and led the Congress for nearly two decades.
Speaking about her vote for India, the actress again attacked the Congress saying, “All our politicians who kept chilling in London… the state that this country is in, the rapes, the poverty, the pollution, the ecology… the ‘durdasha’, the state that our country was in during the Congress rule, it can’t get worse than that. It is time for our swaraj and swadharm. So we should be going in large numbers and voting for India”. Kangana had recently hit out at her fellow actors in the film industry for refusing to be vocal about their political opinion. She has shown support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has expressed her admiration over his leadership abilities.
On the big screen, the actress last appeared in ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’. The film on the life of Rani Laxmibai saw Kangana stepping into the shoes of Manikarnika. She will be next seen in the biopic of late politician Jayalalitha playing the titular role.
Mumbai was voting on Monday in phase 4 of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. Several Bollywood actors including Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Kareena Kapoor cast their vote. The polling was for 17 seats in the state, including six in Mumbai.
