Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an election rally held at Uttar Pradesh, said that poverty is his caste, on Saturday, a day after BSP supremo Mayawati said that Narendra Modi is not an “OBC by birth”. Addressing the rally, he also claimed that he has been the longest serving Chief Minister and has been the PM for last five years, but there is not single poverty listed against him.
“The people of the ‘Mahamilawat’ recently started picking on my caste, I want to tell them that I belong to the caste of the poor of the country. I provided housing, water facilities, and gas facilities to the poor because I belong to them”, Modi said.
National security also figured prominently in his speech. Modi accused the previous coalition government of weakening the intelligence agencies and recalled that the Pokhran nuclear tests took place on this day 21 years back.
Modi also slams Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over Alwar gang rape case. He said that Rajasthan police and state government were busy covering this incident in a bid to hide their mistake in law and order.
Taking a jibe at Congress leader Sam Pitroda, Modi said that Congress is steeped in hubris and it believes that it can enslave the common Indian man. Modi took on Pitroda’s comment on 1984 Sikh riots and says that this has Congress’ attitude whenever they were in power.
