Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Aravind Kejriwal, on Saturday, made a mysterious claim that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might get him assassinated like Indira Gandhi. He also made his point clear that the BJP is conspiring with the officials in charge of his security to get him murdered. However, it’s not for the first time he makes such comments.
“The police you see around me, all report to the BJP. My PSO also reports to the BJP. They will kill me through my PSO just like Indira Gandhi was killed. My life can end within minutes”, PTI quoted as Kejriwal telling a news channel in Punjab. After he was attacked on May 4, senior AAP leaders had raised questions about his security provided by Delhi police, which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
But, the Delhi Police denied his charges and said that the personnel in its security unit provided protection to dignitaries of all political parties in the national capital, and were “thoroughly committed” to their job.
Kejriwal made the remarks on Twitter after returning from Punjab after campaigning ended Friday.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju responded calling his remarks “reprehensible”, while Deputy CM Manish Sisodia suggested police shared the AAP chief’s security detail with the BJP. “Arvind Kejriwal Ji has crossed all limits of political insanity and human impulsivity. How can a Chief Minister make such a reprehensible statement ?, said Rijiju.
