Many democratic nations that are as young as India have degenerated to dictatorship said Congress president Rahul Gandhi, while paying tribute to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary. Earlier during the election campaign, Rahul had referred to PM Modi as an insecure dictator.

“On his death anniversary, let us remember Jawaharlal Nehru ji’s contribution in building strong, independent, modern institutions, that have helped democracy survive in India for over 70 years,” Gandhi tweeted.

Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi paid tributes to India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary. Nehru died on May 27th, 1964.

Modi also tweeted in the memory of Nehru.   “Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji on his death anniversary. We remember his contributions to our nation, he wrote on Twitter.
