Nirav Modi, a fugitive economic offender, wanted in India for fraud and money laundering charges amounting to nearly $2 billion, applied for bail in UK High Court on Friday. The hearing of the case will be on June 11, as informed by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
A UK Court had remanded Mr.Modi till June 27th. The UK government had also asked the Indian government to inform within 15 days to which prison shall he be held in if extradited.
Mr Modi was arrested by uniformed Scotland Yard officers on an extradition warrant from a Metro Bank branch in central London on March 19 and has been in prison since.Nirav Modi and his family owe the Punjab National Bank Rs 12,636 crores a
