Mumbai:

“New company, new film, new beginnings,” tweeted Anurag Kashyap on Thursday, with no further elaboration. There are no details available of the yet-to-be-titled film. It is also known that Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew will be doing the lead role in Kashyap’s film. The news was announced by Geethu Mohandas.

Kashyap was one of the founders of ‘Phantom films’ along with Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl. However, the production house was dissolved last year following #MeToo allegations against Bahl. Since its inception in 2011, Phantom produced many noteworthy Bollywood films including Queen, Masaan, Lootera and Udta Punjab.

Kashyap was last seen directing the romantic film “Manmarziyan”, starring Taapsee Pannu, Abhishek Bachchan, and Vicky Kaushal. He is also known for movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, Black Friday, Raman Raghav, Dev D and Gulaal.

Meanwhile, Geethu Mohandas announced the news of Roshan Mathew joining the new film of Anurag Kashyap through her social media handle.

” When I was filming Moothon, I got close to all my actors, rooting for them and wanting the best to happen in their lives always. That ‘want’ will be forever. I’m so proud to announce that my actor and good friend, Roshan Mathew with his unbelievable performance in Moothon, has landed himself a beautiful project as the lead in none other than the maverick filmmaker Anurag Kashyap ‘s latest. The shoot commences tomorrow in Bombay. I wish you the world, Roshan. This is just the beginning,” she wrote.

Responding to TOI, Roshan confessed that he would have taken up the project even if he didn’t like the script. “I loved the script, but I would have done the film if at all I didn’t,” he said.
