In a major accident, a KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) bus, collided with a concrete mixing unit and caught fire in Kottarakkara in Kollam district. 2 passengers were severely injured while 7 others sustained minor injuries.
Seven of the passengers were taken to a private hospital in Valakom, while the other two, including the driver, were taken to Medical College Hospital.
The incident happened when the bus collided with a concrete mixer, and both the vehicles caught fire, following the collision. The accident happened around 2.30 in the afternoon.
“Luckily, the injured passengers were able to get off the vehicle before the fire started,” an official from the Fire and Rescue Department in Kottarakkara told The News Minute.
Traffic was blocked for almost an hour. An earth mover was brought in to drag the vehicles to a corner, reports TOI. Seven fire rescue team had reached the spot immediately and brought the fire under control by 3.50pm.
