United States:

China’s foreign ministry called on the United States on Tuesday to withdraw a potential $2.2 billion arms sales to Taiwan, saying it strongly opposes the action, reports Reuters.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump’s administration’s approved of the sale of 108 Abrams tanks, 250 Stinger missiles and related equipment. However, the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said that the sale would not alter the basic military balance in the region and that it has notified Congress of the move.

‘We cannot find the word ‘dead’ in any of the laws in Hong Kong or in any legal proceedings in the Legislative Council,’ protest leaders Jimmy Sham and Bonnie Leung said in statements in English and Cantonese.
