A senior journalist was killed in a road accident near Museum Police Station, Thiruvananthapuram.

It is alleged that the car was driven by Sriram Venkatraman IAS in an inebriated condition. He is also hospitalised. The incident happened today early morning.

K.M Basheer, the person who died in the accident was the chief editor of Malayalam Daily Siraj.

Venkatraman told police that the car was driven by a woman, who was travelling with him. However, the eyewitness said that Venkatraman was driving the car. Police said that they will check the CCTV footage of the accident as soon as possible.

The car was registered in the name of Vafa Firoz.
