Moothon, Geetu Mohandas’ second feature film, will be premiered on September 11 in the Toronto International Film Festival while it will be the opening film of the 21st edition of the Mumbai Film festival (MAMI).
The movie was scripted and directed by Geetu Mohandas and filmed by Rajiv Ravi, her husband. Nivin Pauly played the lead role in this movie.
Moothon is a Malayalam word means ‘the elder one’. The story revolves around a boy who is in search of his elder brother in islands. The movie shot in Mumbai as well as Lakshadweep.
“It is such a huge honour but I am trying to be in a state of Zen!” I am surprised when people say I have been lucky with both my feature films going places. But I have worked very hard on both the films. In the case of Moothon, I spent two years working on the movie,” she points out.
“The mentoring there helped me fine tune the script. It is a coincidence that both my feature films, Liar’s Dice and Moothon, revolve around a search. It has been emotionally and physically exhausting. I was writing the script in the midst of helping my daughter with her homework and her lessons. There were umpteen things to be taken care of and the script was completed in the middle of all that,” she says.
