A 30-member film crew from Kerala, including award-winning actor Manju Warrier, was rescued after being stranded in a remote Himachal Pradesh village following heavy rain and floods for the past few days.
They got stuck in a flood-hit village of Chhattru when they were shooting in the Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh. The crew includes Sanal Kumar Sasidharan director of the movie. The movie titled Kayattam.
Because of the heavy landslips in Uttarakhand, the place remained cut off from the main transportation channels
Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan had communicated with the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. He received the information from Ms Warrier’s brother Madhu Warrier.
“The Mandi district administration had informed that the road connectivity to Chatru village had been established,” Muralidharan tweeted.
The film crew has decided not to go to Kokhsar base immediately. They will continue to stay in Chatru till the shoot is completed, The Hindu reported.
Manju Warrier called her brother through satellite, saying that about 30 people in her team were stuck without much food left. The film crew was said to be in the village for about three weeks.
