Ex-finance minister P Chidambaram faced a huge set back in the Supreme Court today as his plea challenging CBI custody was not listed for a hearing in the Supreme Court today.
The Court also informed his counsel Kapil Sibal that the petition would be listed for hearing only after Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi passes necessary orders.
The case is heard b a bench headed Justice R Banumathi.
Chidambaram also has challenged the order from Delhi High Court, which had denied him anticipatory bail in the INX media case.
He was arrested late on August 21, a day after the Delhi High Court rejected his anticipatory bail application.
However, the Supreme Court would be taking up two other petitions filed by Mr Chidambaram, one which seeks protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, and another for similar pre-arrest bail in the CBI case.
Mr Chidambaram and his son were named by INX Media co-founders Peter and Indrani Mukerjea, who are in jail in Mumbai for the murder of Indrani’s daughter Sheena Bora.
