Indian sprinter VK Vismaya produced a personal best performance clocking at 52.12 seconds to clinch a gold in women’s 400m run at the International Athletic Meeting in Brno, Czech Republic.
The 22-year-old Indian won the gold medal while MR Poovamma and Subha Venkatesan finished second and third with timings of 53.47s and Sudha 53.67s respectively.
Vismaya, scored her personal best of 52.48 at Nové Mesto nad Metují in the same country last month, along with India’s other premier quarter milers, has been in Europe for some time now.
Vismaya is from Kannur, Kerala has been constantly improving her performances on the tracks. After been considered a weak link in India’s 400m women’s relay team not long ago, she is finally showing great improvement and is ready to make amends.
Hima Das, who has recently won six gold medals in European races, didn’t compete in this event.
