The Students Federation of India (SFI) called off their indefinite strike on its fourth day as CUSAT authorities agreed to the demands of the students.

The strike began on 25th September, with the students occupying the library demanding to extend its closing time.

“We had submitted a representation seeking immediate solutions to a series of issues faced by the students. Due to the lack of proper response, SFI had called for an indefinite strike as well. On the fourth day of the strike, the registrar had a discussion with us and agreed to the demands,” said Prajul, secretary of SFI CUSAT Unit.

The major demands of the students included ambulance facility within the campus, more books in Science department libraries, issues related to improvement and supplementary exams of Btech students, solving attendance related issues, increase in the count of security in campus, fencing of ladies hostel among others.

The registrar promised the students to implement ambulance facility within October 10th. They also accepted the demand to give full attendance to students attending co-curricular activities. The library time has been extended to 9.30, even though the students had demanded a 24*7 library.

CUSAT authorities also appointed a committee chaired by Dr Sashi Gopalan to look into the issues of Internal improvement, Special supplementary exam among others.
