Twenty-one people have been killed so far in clashes amidst the protests against Citizenship act in different parts of the country. The highest number of deaths have been reported from  Uttar Pradesh, where fourteen people were killed so far by Adithyanath’s police. Five people died in Assam where the police had open fired on protesters. While two were killed by police in Karnataka.

The police brutality had brought criticisms from various corners. Among those killed in UP  is an eight-year-old boy. The police have detained more than 4000 people across the country amidst the raging protests.

Internet also remains suspended in various parts of the country. The government also has imposed sec.144 in various parts, but people were seen to be protesting despite the ban.
