At least 11 people were killed in clashes with police amid the ongoing protest against the CAA and NRC in parts of Uttar Pradesh. Adityanath’s police also have arrested around 300 people who were part of the protests.

According to reports, Three men were brought dead to Meerut medical college. Two people were killed in Bijnor and one each in Sambhal, Firozabad and Kanpur. The person killed in Lucknow, identified as Mohammed Wakeel was shot when he went to buy groceries.

“We got to know around 5 pm that he was shot,” Wakeel’s brother Shameem said to Indian Express.

“We don’t know who shot him. When we rushed to the hospital, we were told he is dead. We are still figuring out if the police and administration will allow the body to be brought to the house before it can be taken to the graveyard,” his family said.

Internet also remains suspended in many parts of the state including Aligarh, Mau, Azamgarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Ghaziabad, Sambhal and Allahabad.
