Delhi:

A day after Union Minister Anurag Thakur was caught on camera raising slogans calling for ‘shooting dead the traitors’, the protest site at Shaheenbagh in Delhi turned chaotic as an armed man entered the protest site demanding the protestors to leave the place. The man who carried a pistol, brandished it at the protesters, was however overpowered by them.

A twitter account associated with the Shaheen Bagh protest site tweeted, “armed anti-social elements have entered the protest area. Infiltrators have been caught and neutralized, and the situation is back to normal,” it added.

The man claimed to have links with a political party. Meanwhile, Delhi Police who said that no complaints were yet filed on the case also added that the pistol could be a licensed one. The protest site in Shaheenbagh, which is led by women at large is receiving massive support from citizens.

Shaheen Bagh Official, a Twitter handle that posts updates from the protest site, wrote at 6 pm, “An official and urgent appeal from Shaheen Bagh: armed anti-social elements have entered the protest area. We fear that more right-wing groups could enter and launch an attack. We appeal to all to join the protest, strengthen our numbers and prevent any violence.”

Shaheenbagh was earlier today targeted by  BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Parvesh Verma who on Tuesday triggered a controversy by stating that  ‘they (protestors) will one day enter your home and rape your daughters.‘
