Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Giriraj Singh slammed the anti-CAA protesters yet again with his comment on an Islamic Seminary in Deoband. Addressing media in Saharanpur, the minister said that Darul Uloom is a factory producing terrorist and called it “aatankvaadi ki Gangotri”.
Similar to Shaheenbagh in Delhi, Deoband had witnessed relentless protests against CAA since January this year. The minister earlier also had been insensitive towards anti-CAA protestors and had termed Shaheenbagh to be the training squads of suicide bombers.
“Shaheen Bagh is no longer just a movement. Here, suicide bombers are being trained. There is a conspiracy against the country in the country’s capital,” Giriraj Singh said on Twitter.
BJP ministers had repeatedly tried to frame protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as an anti-national activity and had failed to address the issues put forth by the protesters.
“I had once said earlier that Deoband is the Gangotri of terrorists. All most wanted terrorists of the world came from Deoband, including Hafiz Saeed or any of the others,” said Giriraj Singh.
“These people are not against CAA, they are against India. This is a kind of a khilafat movement,” he added.
CAA passed by parliament on December 11 last year aims at providing citizenship to refugees from six minority religious communities from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan, provided they have lived in India for six years and entered the country by December 31, 2014.
The act had invited criticism from all corners for excluding Muslims. Close to 28 people have been killed in protests so far in the BJP ruled states of UP, Assam and Karnataka.
