One of the Spice Jet pilots who has no recent travel history abroad and did not fly any international flight in the month of March has tested positive for the coronavirus.
“One of our colleagues, a first officer with SpiceJet, has tested positive for Covid-19. The test report came on March 28. He did not operate any international flight in March,” the airline’s spokesperson said.
The officials informed that the lat domestic flight operated by him was one from Chennai to Delhi on March 21. Following this, he went into self-quarantine at home. Medical aid and treatment are now being provided to the pilot.
The airline is attempting to track and contact the source of contact to figure out how many other people had interacted with the pilot. In light of this, all crew and staff members who had been in direct contact with the patient have been asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days as a preventive measure.
