Supreme Court will hear a petition today which seek relief for thousands of migrant workers who are fleeing cities en masse for their hometowns, due to the lack of resources amidst the lockdown.

The petition seeking relief for the laborers who were rendered homeless and jobless post the lockdown was filed by an advocate, Alakh Alok Srivastava. It seeks to provide basic amenities such as food, water, and shelter to the migrant workers.

22 laborers were reported to have died in the attempt to walk back home.
