3 Congress MLAs in hotel with BJP leaders

Karnataka water resource minister D K Shivakumar has alleged that three Congress MLAs were in Mumbai hotel along with some BJP leaders. He alleged that BJP was trying to topple the coalition government through ‘Operation Lotus’. ‘Operation Lotus’ is a reference to the alleged operation undertaken by BJP to lure opposition MLAs to defect and ensure the stability of B S Yeddyurappa government in 2008. He also said that Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy was being too “lenient” towards BJP. Many Congress MLAs from Karnataka have alleged that they were approached by the BJP asking them to quit and join their party. The BJP has denied the allegations and said that such allegations were being made to cover up Congress’s internal strife.
