Ankara /Washington:

Turkish President Erdogan and Donald Trump spoke for the first time over the phone after Trump threatened to “devastate Turkey economically” if the Kurds are attacked. Erdogan said addressing his deputies that the telephone conversation was “quite positive” and reiterated that Turkey would set up an “a 20-mile [32-km] security zone along the Syrian border”. He also said that he has reached a “historic agreement” with Trump but did not elaborate on it. The White House in a press release said that US President expressed the desire to work closely with Turkey.
