JRL to frame Joint Strategy to help Kashmiris amidst suppression from Indian forces

The Joint Resistance leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, on Tuesday stated that the suppression from Indian forces had become unbearable for the people of Kashmir Valley and said that they have decided to frame a comprehensive joint strategy in consultation with political and religious organizations, lawyers, traders, transporters, employees, academicians and civil society to counter it. According to the JRL statement,“ to defeat these cruel designs of New-Delhi we will have wide-ranging consultations with all factions of the society including political organizations, religious organizations, lawyers, traders, transporters, employees, academicians, civil society and others to frame a comprehensive joint strategy and present it before the people.”

After being set free from house detention, both leaders Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq visited the Hyderpora residence of Syed Ali Geelani where the trio had a thorough discussion over the prevailing situation in Kashmir. The JRL also strongly condemned the bloodshed, night raids, arrest spree of youth, thrashing of residents during CASO and damaging property at large scale across the Kashmir by the Indian forces present in the Valley. “The forces in the valley have crossed all barriers against the people of Kashmir and the youth are being selectively killed and property damaged under a sinister design to consolidate the grip of control over Jammu & Kashmir by New-Delhi,” the statement read. The JRL also criticised the army for resorting to human rights violation in the valley and the electronic media of India who projected Kashmir and Kashmiris in a such a colour that brutality was justified.

They also said that, despite ultimate repression being unleashed across Kashmir, every single citizen of Kashmir would commit to their birthright (the right to self-determination), and the ongoing struggle would continue at all levels.
Meanwhile, the Indian army Chief Bipin Rawat’s recent statement has given further encouragement to the men in uniform to increase brutality and killing against Kashmiris. Earlier, a soldier who was injured in stone pelting had succumbed to his injuries and the death had created a huge outcry in different states of India. Various political parties of India demanded a stern action against the stone pelters.
